The Midwest Smart & Efficient Manufacturing Hub is a collaboration between the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, APTIM and four Department of Energy Industrial Assessment Centers. This pilot project is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office.
MEEA
The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) is a collaborative network, promoting energy efficiency to optimize energy generation, reduce consumption, create jobs and decrease carbon emissions in all Midwest communities. MEEA leverages our expertise to be the Midwest’s leading resource to promote energy efficiency as the essential pathway to achieve a clean, affordable, equitable and sustainable future. MEEA sees energy efficiency as the least cost foundation of the clean energy economy, creating immediate energy savings, providing career pathways, reducing emissions, improving new and existing buildings and boosting Midwest business and industries.
MEEA is the project lead for the Midwest Smart & Efficient Manufacturing Hub pilot.

U.S. Department of Energy Industrial Assessment Centers (IACs)
Michigan State University Industrial Assessment Center
Michigan State University’s Industrial Assessment Center, in collaboration with Michigan Tech and Henry Ford College, helps small and medium sized US manufacturers and commercial buildings save energy, improve productivity, and reduce waste by providing no-cost technical assessments conducted by a team of students and faculty. With over 6,200 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Michigan, the team aims to conduct at least 20 manufacturing and 10-15 commercial building assessments per year. As a result, the IAC is building and expanding a knowledgeable and diverse energy workforce pipeline, which educates and trains college-level students through a structured, hands-on educational program.
